INSTALLING QUICKSTOCK™
1. Double-click the QuickStock™ Installer icon to start the program. A virus protection warning will appear. If you have virus protection software, you may want click Cancel for now and disable it before you try again.
2. Once you reach the Installer title screen, click Install. This will copy a 215 KB Control Panel into your System Folder.
3. Type in your name, the name of your company, and the 14-character CD key code from the disc envelope. Click OK. (If the “OK” button is not highlighted, you didn’t enter the CD key code correctly. Try entering it again.) The QuickStock unlocking control panel is now fully installed in your System Folder.
4. Restart your Macintosh and insert the QuickStock™ CD.
USING THE QUICKSTOCK™ CATALOG
To use the catalog, open the Catalog folder and double-click on the QuickStock™ Catalog application. Follow the directions in the application to find the clips and stills you need. If you would like the catalog to run faster, you can drag the Catalog folder to your hard disk. Don't copy the Catalog Files folder to your hard disk unless you have a lot of free space. The Catalog Files folder contains the unlocked, low-resolution movies and stills that you can use.
To show you how easy it is to unlock a clip, a free clip is available on your first call. This clip has the Cinenet logo but any other clips you order will not. You can purchase any combination of movies and stills.
UNLOCKING MOVIE CLIPS & STILL IMAGES
1. Use the QuickStock Catalog to create a shopping list of the clips and stills you want.
2. Open the QuickStock Control Panel. If you are using System 6, go to the Apple menu, select Control Panel, scroll through the icons, and select the QuickStock icon. If you are using System 7, go to the System Folder, open the Control Panel folder, and double-click the QuickStock icon. The QuickStock control panel appears.
3. Call Adobe Systems at 1-800-68-ADOBE (800-682-3623). When you order, you’ll be asked for the 14-character customer key code from the control panel, your name, address and phone number. (The customer key is NOT the same as the CD key.) You’ll receive a new access key for each movie and still that you order. You may want to write down the access keys as you receive them.
4. Enter an access key in the New Access Key field of the control panel, and click Accept. Repeat for additional keys. Make sure you enter all the access keys you received before going to the next step.
5. Click on Movies or Stills and then click Open. The QuickStock Movies and/or Stills volume icons appear on the desktop containing the clips you have purchased. You can then copy the high-resolution clips to your hard disk before using as they are not designed to run off of the CD-ROM. See the section on Transcoding if you need them in a different format.
6. Make a backup of your QuickStock™ Control Panel. This will protect your codes to access clips in case of a problem on your hard drive.

TRANSCODING
The movie clips are stored as 320x240 size, 15 frames per second, 24 bit color using the Cinepak compressor at a high quality level. Some clips which did not compress well with Cinepak, are stored as a series of JPEG stills.
You can convert these clips to any size, frame rate or compressor by loading them into a QuickTime editor such as Adobe Premiere and saving them with the parameters that you require.
